Chuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrr
Last night was the best weather we've had in a long while for near perfect nightjar finding conditions. I headed up to the Blackdown Hills before it got dark and listened and waited. Just as I realised I hadn't taken a torch with me and walked back to the car, I heard that familiar churring coming from the far side of the wood. At least one male singing very briefly for just a few minutes. Unfortunately, that was it - less than a couple of minutes in total but worth it. If I'd not had to walk back to the car, chances are I may have seen it too. With good weather predicted for the coming week, looks like there'll be other chances.
