In my opinion, birds don't come much better looking than this. This beautiful Black-winged Stilt was found on Sunday evening by Dave Helliar at a private site with no general access, close to Chard. Luckily I was nearby when Dave phoned and got there in time to grab some long-distance video of it. What a stunning find and certainly not a species I ever expected to see so close to home!

It looks from photos as if the same individual relocated to Lodmoor near Weymouth as a very similar looking bird was present there the following morning.
