Corscombe Hoopoe...

When a hoopoe turns up just 12 miles from home, you have to make the effort to go and see it. Unfortunately this bird turned up at a rather sensitive site at Corscombe in Dorset but many got to see it and enjoy it.

When  Andy went to see it for the second time there was nearly a punch up between some chap and the photographers present. The unknown guy (seems he was a birder) was apparently running around flapping his arms trying to scare the hoopoe away. Naturally those present objected to his behaviour but there are always two sides to a story so I guess we'll never know what upset the chap and caused him to behave that way other than the fact he didn't seem to like the photographers present. Whatever his motive, it worked. The hoopoe was gone by the following day.
